Your hearing journey doesn’t end when you pick up your hearing aids. In fact, you could think of it as a new beginning. Adjusting to your hearing aids takes time, patience and practice. The following pages help guide you through the process – as well as what to do if you get frustrated or discouraged.

If only it were as easy as putting on a pair of glasses.

First, you need to adapt to wearing hearing aids. It may be strange or even startling to hear sounds that you haven’t heard in many years. For some people the adaptation process is very fast and they are able to wear their hearing aids full time within a short period.

For others, especially those who have struggled with hearing loss for many years, the adaptation period may be slower and require much more practice. Neither scenario is right or wrong; everyone is different. Your hearing professional can be a valuable partner during the adaptation process.

Second, in order to protect your investment, you need to clearly understand how to care for and protect your hearing aids. You may also have questions about hearing aid batteries.
